Sculpted Icons brings together works by Dagoberto Rodríguez, Los Carpinteros, Pedro de Oraá, and Danny Esquenazi around a shared investigation of form, structure, and imagination. Across watercolor and painting, architecture and geometry become vehicles for speculation: crystalline bodies suspended in space, utopian structures, transparent geological formations, and abstract constructions charged with symbolic presence. Presented at Front Row at The Moore, the exhibition considers how sculptural thinking can exist beyond physical volume, through images that transform structure into idea.

Four practices
Dagoberto Rodríguez (b. 1969, Caibarién, Cuba) is a visual artist whose practice spans drawing, sculpture, and installation, exploring speculative architectures, possible futures, and symbolic structures of power. He is a co-founder of Los Carpinteros.
Los Carpinteros was founded in Havana in 1992 by Marco Castillo, Dagoberto Rodríguez, and Alexandre Arrechea. Working at the intersection of art, design, and architecture, the collective examined ideological systems, institutional spaces, and functional objects through watercolor and sculpture. The group dissolved in 2018.
Pedro de Oraá (1931–2020, Havana, Cuba) was a foundational figure of Cuban concrete art and a co-founder of Los Diez Pintores Concretos. His painting is built on geometric abstraction, chromatic planes, and spatial construction, and is held in collections including MoMA, New York, and the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes de Cuba.
Danny Esquenazi (b. 1975, Bogotá, Colombia) is a kinetic and optical constructivist sculptor working in the tradition of geometric abstraction. He studied architecture at the Bezalel Academy and industrial design at Hadassah College in Israel, and has exhibited at the Museo de Arte del Tolima, Museo Casa Grau and LGM Gallery in Colombia. Working primarily in wood and wood derivatives finished in vivid color, he builds engineered structures that play with movement, color, and natural forces, across series including Tribute to Nature, Chromatic Impulses, and Ludic Kineticism.
