Los Carpinteros

Formed in Havana in the early 1990s, Los Carpinteros reshaped the language of contemporary Latin American art. Blurring the lines between architecture, design, and sculpture, the collective turned utilitarian objects—chairs, blueprints, modular structures—into conceptual works that examine power, consumerism, and collective memory with a mix of rigor and wit.

Though the collective has since dissolved, its impact endures. The body of work they produced together is finite, and as such, increasingly rare. Institutions and collectors worldwide continue to compete for these pieces, drawn not only by their cultural weight but by their proven ability to hold and build value over time.

For collectors, Los Carpinteros represents more than acquisition. Each work captures a pivotal chapter in contemporary art history while offering the tangible security of scarcity—an asset with enduring relevance and measurable long-term potential.
