As one of the biggest fashion scenes of the world took place in Paris last week, Haute Couture keeps bringing daring designers and classical ones to a place where they’re supposed to explore creativity, explode codes and not take details for granted.
Anyhow, it was practical for some brands, showstopping for others and uplifting for the fashion industry as a whole. Let’s break down the top 3 shows so far:
- Maison Margiela Artisanal
John Galliano has confirmed his greatness, power, magic and love for fashion. Closing the Couture calendar, the most-talked-about show took place under the Pont Alexander III in Paris. Inspired by Brassaï photography, broken dolls, moving paintings and his very own aesthetic, the acclaimed British designer had presented the best fashion show (in any existing category), in the last decade so far.
- Jean Paul Gaultier by Simone Rocha
One of the most experimental movements is Jean Paul Gaultier being edited, constructed and developed by a different fashion designer every season. As for this one, the great Simone Rocha has touched and mixed both brand visions so well-thought-out it was almost impossible to blink watching every single look down the runway.
Straight up with bows, pearls, corsetry, sailor accessories, little details and poetic touches, a well executed Couture collection was delivered perfectly.
- Schiaparelli
As for the opening show as usual, Daniel Roseberry created a whole atmosphere around technology, movement itself and daring surrealism in the most Elsa Schiaparelli very own style. The runway show opened Couture Week by playing with volumes, eccesses, material experimentation and even moving technological babies.
Haute Couture keeps its core and existence thanks to Fashion Houses that put their own effort in creating a dream, which after all is what Couture stands for.
