Beyond what people and fashion insiders think, this one is supposed to set the tone for the whole year, being the first one from all fashion categories, luxury houses gather in Milan and Paris to showcase their visions for the cold season ahead, almost one year in advance.
Moving as fast as it can, the fashion industry is facing AI comparisons, sustainability uncomfortable conversations and most of it all, a demanding generation full of interest and creativity; here we’ve got insights from all the Menswear Fall/Winter 2024-2025 collections including Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Balmain and more.
- Uniforms research:
As Prada coded as this sounds, every brand seems to be seeking their own identity uniform.
From Miuccia & Raf who once again tried to go deeper about the correlation between nature and an actual office, including sports accessories and ties, until Sabato de Sarno’s first Gucci Menswear show where not only did he mirrored his debut Womenswear collection, but confirmed that selling is caring; although it was a very practical and strong collection, we’ve got a long way to pave with the new wave of creativity, minimalism and the “always now present” – Quiet Luxury.
- Utility over creativity:
Began in Milan with Fendi, as Silvia Venturini presented a very wearable and color-rich collection, alongside D&G’s almost all black looks, and arriving to Paris in Kim Jones’ hands for Dior Homme; everything seems to be clear for luxury brands when constructing the perfect matching suit, whether is with shorts or pants is the most important thing, it overcame for creativity and exploration.
As for Dior creating Couture looks for Menswear, which is already a challenge, and combining it with heritage and archival fabrics, it seems that’s just that. Menswear needs to rise, and they all have found the real clothes to make, and of course, to sell.
- Putting on a show:
It looks like the days of well-thought-out shows like Lagerfeld’s are over, but we’re counting on Kim Jones or Olivier Rousteign for it. As Paris Fashion Week came to an end we had the chance to revisit the actual scene of fashion where not only the clothes matter, but the concept development, the stage, the casting and the craftsmanship.
Thanks to them, we’ve seen what the most powerful names in fashion are capable of, and with the award season is on its way, and celebrities are picking up what they’re wearing, there’s no doubt we will be able to see something different than basic wardrobes and boring structures.
