The legendary Italian fashion designer died in Florence at the age of 83, and there’s no better way to remember him than going through archives, milestones and the Cavalli World, as he used to call it.
Maximalism, sparkles, sexiness and massive prints were part of his DNA, the ones that from the 1960’s have inspired daring aesthetics, unforgettable fashion moments through the years and have been also a crucial part of celebrity culture on the red carpet.
Excess was unmissable, whether it was present in his very own lifestyle, houses, summers or parties or his business, which included Ready to Wear, fragrance, jewelry, watches and his own brand of vodka.
Historically and after his breakthrough inside of the luxury world, it wasn’t until the 90s when Gianni Versace managed to tear apart minimalism, and Cavalli’s name alongside other well-known Italian designers started to pump into the social and luxury map.
Cavalli’s name was at the top of the fashion world when in the early 2000’s and all along the decade, artists such as Beyoncé, JLO, or Christina Aguilera created a whole aesthetic in clothes, visuals and music around his vision, including tropical dresses, animal prints and statement shiny pieces of jewelry.
Celebrity culture became everything for Roberto Cavalli’s business as whole, from the Sex And The City features and the now unstoppable vintage archival moments such as Zendaya in his spinal cord Fall 00’s dress.
Undoubtedly, a life full of glamour, innovation and silhouette sculpture had made it for him a name that’s part of the fashion history worldwide.
